Carmelo Anthony just can’t wait to get out of New York and into a Heat jersey, huh?
“I’m not saying anything, because that would be tampering,” a grinning Melo told the pestering New York media at MSG. “I just dig the hat, ya know?”
Though the NBA Playoffs launch this weekend, Melo and his Knicks teammates will be watching from home despite holding the league’s second highest payroll. Anthony has a player option for next season and could very well cut his allegiance to the Knicks this summer.
Frank Isola, a Knicks writer from the New York Daily News, was seen weeping in the corner of the room after the presser concluded. Shouting could be heard from the MSG offices, with witnesses suspecting it coming from the mouths of soon-to-be absentee Knicks President Phil Jackson and beloved owner James Dolan. In other words, the New York Knicks organization is engulfed in chaos, as usual.
It’s gotten so bad, Knicks jerseys are now 90 percent off at the NBA Store. If you do decide to purchase one, you will be rewarded with one free hug from one of the three remaining Knicks Dancers (Dolan sent the others overseas, ignorantly thinking that was the team’s problem).
The question becomes whether Miami would even want the one-sided, second-tier “superstar” who may hate white people. For a team that takes pride in image, that pungent post-Knicks stench may be too much to bare for a pristine organization like the Heat.
